Srinagar, Dec 14: Hurriyat (G) and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Friday held separate protests in Srinagar against the human rights violations in Kashmir.
In a statement, Hurriyat (G) said that it organized a peaceful protest at Hyderpora Srinagar against “state-terrorism.”
The protestors said that the growing aggression against unarmed and peaceful people was alarming. They said that the beautiful valley has been turned into a “battle field”.
“Under well thought out plain, the Indian authorities and their forces are carrying (out a) genocide”, they said.
The protesters appealed to the Amnesty International, Asia Watch, and other international organizations for human rights to take cognizance of the plight of people of Kashmir and urged them to fulfil their obligations in accordance with human rights specified for world community.
Meanwhile, scores of JKLF leaders and activists also held a protest at Maisuma Lal Chowk against “ongoing Indian aggression and carnage in Kashmir valley.”
“JKLF leaders addressed protesters and condemned the spree of killings, vandalizing people’s properties and other oppressive acts of Indian occupation,” said a front spokesperson, in a statement.
Meanwhile, JKLF chief Yasin Malik in his statement said India will fail to “suppress” Kashmiri voices for freedom.
The protests were held on call of the Joint Hurriyat.
