Srinagar, Dec 12: Reacting to Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan’s message on the Human Rights Day, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai on Wednesday said it is imperative for Pakistan to support the Kashmiri cause courageously and highlight the Kashmir dispute at every opportunity and in every forum.

In a statement issued to media, Sehrai said, “Pakistan being one of the main parties to Kashmir dispute has always played a frontal role at both regional and international levels in highlighting the suffering of the Kashmiris as well as presenting the Kashmir dispute in its historical context.”

“We expect and hopefull diplomatic, political and moral support from Pakistan in our struggle for human dignity, respect and inalienable right to self-determination,” he added.

Sehrai said, “People of Kashmir appreciate Pakistan’s concern, but to put an end to the ‘appalling grind of repression and human right abuse’ that Kashmiri’s are suffering Pakistan needs to do much more.”

He said in spite of all the ‘suppression’, the rulers have not been able to break the will and commitment of the people towards the movement. “The continued moral and diplomatic support extended by Pakistan in such difficult and trying circumstances has always strengthened the determination of the people to carry forward their just and legitimate peaceful political struggle,” he said.

Sehrai further said, “Pakistan being a party to internationally recognized dispute not is only bound by his political commitment but morally and religiously to support the Kashmiris in this hour of need. He said the goal of security and stability in South Asia depends upon the resolution of this dispute in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.”

“There is no other path to peace and prosperity in this impoverished subcontinent unless the core issue of Kashmir was resolved as per its historical perspective and according to the wishes of Kashmir,” he said.
