Srinagar, Mar 16: The Election Commission on Monday appointed Hirdesh Kumar as the new Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir. The IAS officer replaced Shailendra Kumar.
According to a notification issued by the commission, Hirdesh Kumar a 1999-batch IAS officer of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre was appointed for the post.
The notification asked the Jammu and Kashmir administration to ensure that the new CEO takes charge “immediately”.
Reports said the outgoing CEO is likely to be given responsibility of important department.
The incumbent Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan was on Sunday appointed as the fourth Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Jammu and Kashmir, Girish Chandra Murmu.
