Gunfight breaks out in Srinagar outskirts

Srinagar: A nocturnal gunfight broke out between militants and security forces near Panthachowk in Srinagar outskirts.

According to the reports, a joint team of Police, Army’s 20 and 50 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation at Dobey Mohalla.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

A senior police officer confirmed that the exchange of fire is going on. As per the sources, three militants are believed to be trapped.

Earlier three bike-borne militants had attacked a joint team of police and CRPF near Panthachowk. (GNS)
