Govt to grant Rs 50 lakh to deceased covid warrior’s family

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir administration will give a compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the family of National Health Mission doctor, who died due to Covid 19 at SMHS Hospital on July 28.

Confirming the development, Financial Commissioner Health and Medical Education Department Jammu and Kashmir Atal Dullo told The Kashmir Monitor, “Under the GOI Insurance cover for medical health professionals at the forefront of Covid containment efforts, the family of the deceased NHM doctor will get a compensation of 50 lakh rupees.”

The deceased doctor Shabir Ahmad Malik, was working as Medical Officer under NHM and was deputed on contact tracing of Covid-19 patients in Gurez.

He was tested positive on July 4 and recovered after one week.

However, on July 27, the doctor developed symptoms again, and was shifted to SMHS hospital for treatment where he breathed his last. His report came positive after his death.
