Srinagar: Cluster University Jammu and Kashmir has decided to promote students of under-graduate and integrated courses to the next semester on the basis of internal assessments except those who are in the final semester.

On June 1, Cluster University officials held a meeting with the principals of constituent colleges and decided to hold examination of final semester students in the second week of this month.

Vice-chancellor, Cluster University, Dr Sheikh Javaid said in view of guidelines issued by the University Grant Commission (UGC), they have decided to hold examinations of the final semester and promote the intermediate semester to the next semester on the basis of internal assessments.

“There will be no online examination due to the low internet speed and students will have to come to the exam centres to write papers. There will be multiple-choice questions (MCQ). Students will be asked to attempt 60 MCQs in 70 minutes,” he noted.

Dr Javaid said the examination will be held in two shifts to avoid overcrowding in the centres. “The first shift will start from 10 am to 11 am and the second shift will start from 2:30 pm-3:30 pm. All measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus will be followed in letter and spirit.  Authorities will make sure that social distancing is maintained in the examination centres,” he added.

Health officers from the health department will be present and they will properly screen the students entering the hall. The university has issued a notice for submission of online examination forms for UG/IG/Honors/Professional Programmes of 6th-semester batch 2017. Students have been asked to log on to the university website from June 4.

The last date for submission of examination forms is June 15 and after the scheduled date, late fee admissible under rules will be charged from June 16 to 20. No examination forms will be entertained beyond the stipulated date, the university said.
