SRINAGAR, JUNE 23: Rashtriya Lok Jan Shakti Party (RLJP) National Secretary Sanjay Saraaf on Monday called for strong security measures to ensure a peaceful and safe Amarnath Yatra.
Addressing a press conference here, Saraaf also urged the religious leaders to play an active role in discouraging any threats to the annual pilgrimage.
“Not only the yatris, all the tourists whosoever comes here—it is our responsibility to ensure their safety,” he added.
Saraaf condemned the recent Pahalgam terror attack, calling it an act against humanity. He said there was a ‘need for vigilance and unity to protect the region’s spiritual and economic interests’.
Referring to the tourism sector, he said the recent launch of the Vande Bharat train has opened new avenues for growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
“With better infrastructure and support, tourism can truly become a driver of growth,” he said.
He further said his party is ‘committed to securing government and tourism sector funding to boost the region’s economy.’
Saraaf also criticised the Omar Abdullah-led government for its ‘inaction’ and urged the Chief Minister to actively seek central assistance, as done by other states, to strengthen development efforts.
“The Chief Minister must actively approach the Union Government like other states do. Development cannot wait,” he added.
