Elections as per schedule: CS

polls

Srinagar, Sep 10: Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary BVR Subrahmanyam on Monday said that Panchayat and municipal polls will be held as per schedule.

His remarks came even as the National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party announced to boycott the polls in view of concerns over Article 35-A.

“Panchayat polls are on, urban local bodies polls are on. A decision was taken in July. Voter list drafts have been printed and finalized. In few days, actual notification will be issued by the CEO. Panchayat elections will be held around Nov 5. The CEO will notify dates for that…Within one week you will see the entire process,” said Subrahmanyam to reporters in Kulgam while replying to a query.

The chief secretary was in the south Kashmir district to listen to the grievances of the public in an “awamidarbar”.
