Drive held against child labor

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 16: In an effort to stop children from begging, labor and other such activities which are hazardous for their wellbeing, a joint drive was today  conducted by District Child Protection Unit(DCPU), Child Help Line ( CHL) and Child Welfare Committee(CWC) Budgam.

The drive was assisted by a team comprising of Chairperson CWC Budgam Afshan Paul, Member CWC Budgam  Ufaira Jan, Member CWC Budgam  Feroz Ahmad, Irfan Ahmad (PONIC DCPU Budgam)  Muneer (POIC  DCPU Budgam)  Bashir Ahmad (social worker DCPU Budgam) and  Mohammad Iqbal(social worker Budgam) respectively. 

The drive was also facilitated by PS Chadoora and Child Helpline (CHL) Budgam. During the daylong drive, shops, restaurants, vehicle workshop etc functional in Chadoora town were visited by the team. A total number of 4 working minor children were identified who later were produced before the Child Welfare Committee Budgam for their proper rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, their parents/ guardians were sensitized about the grave issue of child labour. They were later counselled so that they could make the lives of their children better in future.
