SRINAGAR: National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah said that he was disheartened by the act of leaders of the Ladakh unit of NC who tendered their resignation en-mass over a dispute on the joint candidature of NC and Congress.

Talking to reporters Omar Abdullah said that the mass resignation of NC leaders is disheartening but NC is ready to make sacrifices. “The mass resignation by NC leader in Ladakh over joint candidature issue is disheartening for me, but we had already a pact with Congress in place and it will not be breached. NC is ready to make sacrifices in this regard,” Omar Abdullah said.

He said I have no doubt about anyone’s intention while transferring votes is not easy, but even if only one vote from the Congress party is cast in my favor, it is enough for me. Responding to a query, Omar Abdullah said that being a candidate I am trying to reach more places and meet a large number of people to convince them to cast a vote in favor of the National Conference.

On a query about PDP’s former Rajya Sabha member, he said “Why Fayaz Mir was roaming freely when everyone was in jail post-August 2019. “While Dr. Farooq Abdullah and I were in jail, Fayaz Mir was openly roaming. I would like to know why the government was so kind to him. And what did we gain from his act of tearing clothes,” Omar said.
