Day 2 of Baramulla encounter: Heavy exchange of fire as gunfight resumes

Srinagar: Firing resumed on Tuesday morning at the encounter site in Kreeri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A senior police officer said that as with the first ray this morning, the armed forces resumed the operation.

“Heavy exchange of firing is going on right now,” the officer said.

Till last night,six including two CRPF troopers, one J&K policeman, one army soldier and two local LeT militants, were killed in the gunfight.

Director General of police Dilbagh Singh Monday said that top LeT Commander Sajad Haider from Sopore was among the two slain militants. Haider, as per the DGP, was instrumental in recruiting new militants and was mastermind behind many attacks on security forces and political activists.
