COVID19: Baramulla man tests positive day after his death, toll 27

Srinagar: The death toll due to COVID-19 has mounted to 27 in Jammu and Kashmir as one more patient from North Kashmir’s Baramulla district has died due to the deadly virus in the Union Territory,  officials said.

Officials said that a 65-year-old man from Baramulla district who died at SMHS yesterday was tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

An official said that an elderly man who hails from Khanpora Baramulla died at SMHS on Wednesday following which samples were taken from him for COVID-19 testing.

“His body was kept in GMC mortuary and his reports came positive for COVID-19 on Thursday,” officials said, adding that he was having underlying problems.

Nodal Officer for COVID-19 at GMC Srinagar, Dr. Salim Khan also confirmed his death and said that the patient was referred from GMC hospital Baramulla with fever, respiratory distress on May 27 to SMHS hospital.

“The patient died within hours of admission,” he said, adding that his samples were tested positive today.

With his death, the death toll due to COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 27 including 24 from Kashmir division and three from Jammu division—(KNO)
