Cloudburst, windstorm wreak havoc in Kashmir; 3 migrant laborers killed

Srinagar, May 9: Three non-local laborers were killed by a cloudburst on Monday in J&K’s Budgam district, while over 3 dozen structures were damaged due to a windstorm in other parts of the Kashmir Valley.

Reports here said a cloudburst hit a brick kiln in Chandapora village of Budgam where the three laborers were working.

“They were shifted to the district hospital in Budgam town where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

“They have been identified as Saleem Mansoori, 45, Kaiser Mansoori, 20, and Mohammad Rayees 20, all residents of Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.

“Police have taken cognizance of the incident,” officials said.

Meanwhile, high-speed winds, accompanied by hailstorms, damaged over 3 dozen structures in the Valley.
