‘Be a Man’: KJ says he ‘pretended’ to love a girl in school

Karan Johar made an appearance on the YouTube show “Be A Man Yaar,” hosted by Nikhil Taneja, where he shared some personal insights. He revealed, “I pretended to be in love with a girl in the 10th standard, and her name was Shalaka.”

Karan also reflected on the use of derogatory terms for the LGBTQ+ community, stating that terms like ‘gay,’ ‘fag,’ or ‘homo’ were referred to as ‘pansy’ in the past. He expressed that this word had a profound impact on him, pushing him into a shell during his younger years.

On a more positive note, Karan Johar praised Shah Rukh Khan, emphasizing that Shah Rukh Khan was the first person who didn’t make him feel inferior.

The YouTube video also featured other prominent figures such as Amol Parashar, Govind Kaushal, Nakuul Mehta, Naseeruddin Shah, Naveen Kasturia, Sushant Divgikr (Rani KoheNur), Vicky Kaushal, Vishnu Kaushal, and Zakir Khan.

According to reports, the film has grossed ₹150 crore in India and $19.2 million overseas, despite facing competition from several other new releases.

This success places the film near the top of the 2023 box office rankings, just behind “Pathaan.” The worldwide gross for “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani” is estimated to be around ₹340 crores.
