SRINAGAR, SEP 20: Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) on Thursday threw open Natipora limb of Rambagh flyover, connecting Ram Bagh with Zum Zum hotel chowk.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ERA, Satish Razdan, said the opening of the stretch would reduce the travel time to Natipora, Kanipora, Chanapora, and their adjoining areas.
The stretch is around 200 metres long.
“We ensured its completion within a short span of time,” he said.
He said, “The traffic will run on the stretch only from Jehangir chowk towards Natipora and Chanapora.”
The commuters, who had been suffering due to delay in the completion of the uptown flyover, have taken a sigh of relief.
“Its opening will reduce the traffic jams especially during the peak hours. We all know how congested the road used to be,” said a commuter Sajad Ahmad of Natipora.
Another commuter, Bashir Ahmad, of Nowgam, while expressing satisfaction, said the ERA should now work on Jehangir Chowk–Tulsi Bagh stretch.
“In the past, it missed numerous deadlines. The opening of the limb will give huge relief to the commuters,” he said.
Pertinently, the work on the flyover was started in 2009.Its completion was due in 2016, but the September 2014 floods and the unrest of 2016 delayed the project.
