Adv Khan for mass awareness about L&E schemes

Jammu, Mar 16: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan Monday underscored the need of mass awareness about several welfare schemes of Labour and Employment (L&E) Department so that the deserving lot would be benefitted exponentially.

The Advisor stated this while chairing a review meeting held to assess functioning of L&E Department at Civil Secretariat.

 

The meeting was also attended by Commissioner Secretary Labour and Employment, Saurabh Bhagat; Labour Commissioner, Abdul Rashid War and other concerned officers.

The Advisor was given a brief about the functioning of the department while deliberating about several issues pertaining to Employees’ State Insurance Scheme (ESI).

Commissioner Secretary L&E, Saurabh Bhagat informed the meeting that the medical benefit under the ESI Scheme has now been extended to the widow, spouses of deceased, retired, superannuated insured persons, besides widow, spouses of insured persons who ceases to be in an insurable employment on account of permanent disablement, and also to widows of insured persons who are in receipt of dependants’ benefit.

It was given out that a Modified Insurance Medical Practitioner (MINP) scheme 2018 has been approved by the Jammu and Kashmir Employees State Insurance Society in the year 2018.

Bhagat informed the meeting that under Employees’ State Insurance Corporation Act, in addition to dependent benefits (death benefit) several other benefits are provided under ESI Act.

“Besides death benefit, the other benefits include medical benefits, Sickness benefits (Sickness benefit, enhanced sickness benefit and extended sickness benefit, disabled benefits (Temporary Disablement Benefit    and Permanent Disablement Benefit), dependent benefits, maternity benefits,” the meeting was told.

Advisor Khan was informed that 11 dispensaries would be opened in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory for which recruitment of human resource would be initiated.

Primary Care under ESI (MB) Scheme, J&K, eight service dispensaries are being run by J&K Government and these dispensaries provide Primary Care Services including treatment, medicines, certification and primary scrutiny of IP reimbursement claims, it was given out.

Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Khan stressed upon the officials to launch mass awareness campaigns through print and electronic media so that the schemes and programmes would reach to the deserving lot.

The meeting was further informed that new initiatives are being taken by ESI Corporation by leveraging technology to facilitate the scheme, a mobile app (Dhanwantri app) and a web app has been developed for documentation of clinical data and registration of stakeholders.

“Medical facility will be provided to insured persons and their families through tie-up with the private clinic, chemist and diagnostic centers at local level. This facility will be provided cashless to the insured persons and medical record will be captured through mobile app,” the meeting was informed.
