‘Abducted’ man found dead in south Kashmir’s Shopian

Srinagar: Amid yet another encounter in south Kashmir’s Shopian district in which five militant were killed, a man from the district allegedly abducted by unknown persons late Tuesday was found dead in an orchard close to home on Wednesday.

Tariq Ahmad Paul, 34, a resident of Pinjoora Shopian was found dead by locals in an orchard in Kungnoo village, reports quoting sources said.

A police official of the concerned police station confirmed to The Kashmir Monitor that they had recovered the body.

Reports said that Paul’s house was among the structures damaged during the encounter on Monday in which four militants were killed.

The body, the police official said, had been taken into custody for medico-legal formalities and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered for further course of action.

To mention, the district has witnessed three encounters since Sunday in which 14 militants were killed. Five of them were killed today in a gunfight that took place in Sugoo, Hendhama village of the district.
