Cannes, June 20: YouTube will soon roll out Google’s latest AI-powered video generation model, Veo 3, to enhance video creation on its Shorts platform, CEO Neal Mohan announced at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2025. The integration aims to elevate the quality and realism of AI-generated content for creators.

In an official blog post, Mohan revealed that YouTube creators will soon be able to generate AI-driven video clips and dynamic backgrounds using Veo 3, which was introduced at Google I/O 2025. The new model, developed by Google DeepMind, offers cinematic-quality rendering with native audio generation—including ambient sounds, background noise, and dialogues—enabling more immersive content.

YouTube already offers Dream Screen, a tool that allows creators to generate AI visuals for Shorts. With Veo 3, the platform plans to take things further, improving prompt accuracy, real-world physics, lip syncing, and sound quality in AI-generated content. The launch is expected sometime this summer, though an exact release date has not been confirmed.

Mohan also highlighted the success of Auto Dubbing, another YouTube AI tool that translates videos into nine languages. Since its rollout six months ago, it has helped expand the global reach of over 20 million videos.

Meanwhile, Canva has also integrated Veo 3 into its new text-to-video tool, called “Create a Video Clip”, as part of its paid AI suite. This feature lets users create cinematic-style video clips with editable audio and visual elements. Canva currently limits usage to five video generations per month, with plans to scale it further.

The adoption of Veo 3 across major platforms like YouTube and Canva signals a new era in AI-assisted video creation, offering creators more powerful tools to generate high-quality, engaging content.
