Youth killed, another injured in Kulgam clashes

Srinagar: A youth was killed during clashes at Khudwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.
Official said that a youth identified as Khalid Ahmad Dar (22) son of Suleman Dar sustained a serious bullet wound in his neck after police and paramilitary forces used teargas shells and resorted to some aerial shots to disperse the protesting youth.
Khalid was immediately shifted to nearby Janglat Mandi hospital Anantnag where he succumbed to injuries.
The clashes were broke out in the area following the killing of two militants at Larnow Kokernag.
According to hospital Khalid had bullet injury on his neck.
CMO Anantnag said that they received 3 injured persons in the hospital. Two among them had bullet injuries and one had pellet injuries.
According to the police statement,two civilians sustained bullet injuries when protestors pelted stones on the army camp located at Kudwani.”Reportedly some unidentified militants from the mob also fired some shots towards the army camp.In the said incident one civilian namely Khalid Ahmed Dar (22) who received a bullet injury on his neck succumbed at DH Anantnag. The other one namely Yasir Ahmed Dar (30) of Khudwani with shoulder injury is stated to be stable. In this connection case FIR no 5/2018 has been registered at P/S Kulgam and investigation has been set into motion,” police said in a statement.
Separately a road accident took place at vessu where a BSF vehicle hit a civilian who was also from the same area. The BSF driver and vehicle have been taken into custody with the help of BSF officials.
