Young KAS officer among two killed while trekking Kolahoi

Srinagar, Sep 7: At least two youth from Srinagar including a young Kashmir Administrative Service Officer were killed and another grievously injured when a group of adventurers met with a tragic accident while trekking Kolahoi glacier, around 26 kilometres away from Pahalgam, on Friday.

The 9-member trekking group, as per initial reports, had left Pahalgam on Sunday morning for the summit camp to Kolahoi.

 

On Friday afternoon, at least three of its members, reports said, fell into a crevice close to the glacier.

Two among them including 2015 batch KAS officer, Naveed Jeelani, (presently excise & taxation officer), Adil Shah of Alpine Adventures died on the spot while the third, identified as Haziq Beigh, was grievously injured.

Rescue teams of Police, SDRF and local volunteers launched by District Administration Anantnag were on the job at the time of filing this report.

Div Com Kashmir, as per reports, requisitioned Air Force Helicopter through the Civil Aviation Department and sought assistance of Army for helping the rescue operation.
