Young doctor makes Kashmir proud; becomes Fellow of European Society of Cardiology

Srinagar, Jan 4: Noted Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Hakim Irfan has made Kashmir proud by becoming one of the youngest professionals to acquire three of the most prestigious fellowships in the field of cardiology.

With his latest recognition as a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC), Dr. Hakim Irfan has solidified his position as a leading figure in the global cardiology community.

Dr. Hakim Irfan’s fellowship journey includes: FACC: Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. FAPSIC: Fellow of the Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology, Singapore. FESC: Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, a recent and significant achievement.

The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) has conferred the title of FESC on Dr. Hakim Irfan in recognition of his exceptional contributions to cardiology. This accolade is reserved for healthcare professionals who have demonstrated outstanding dedication and impact in advancing the field. By joining this elite group, Dr. Hakim Irfan gains access to an exclusive network of cardiology professionals and a platform to influence the future direction of cardiovascular medicine globally.

In a congratulatory note, the ESC stated, “Dear Doctor Showkat, congratulations! We are delighted to announce that you have been elected to be a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC). This achievement reflects your significant contributions to cardiology and your dedication to advancing the field. Welcome to this prestigious community that helps define the future of cardiology.”

Fellow of the ESC (FESC) is a title of honor that is awarded to healthcare professionals who have made a significant contribution to cardiology. There are only 4,300 Fellows of the ESC from  Cardiologists since this society’s inception, many of whom are actively involved in ESC activities, from congress and research to education and advocacy. The FESC title is recognized throughout the cardiology community as a symbol of excellence.

Originally hailing from Shahr-e-Khas, Dr Hakim Irfan Showkat has published more than 50 national and international papers. He has presented multiple international and national paper presentations. The latest is in the Heart Failure Association of India.

Expressing gratitude, Dr Irfan described it as a “springboard moment” in his career. “It is an absolute honor to be recognized by such prestigious institutions. These fellowships not only represent my professional dedication but also inspire me to contribute even more to the global cardiology landscape,” he said.

 He dedicated this honor to his family, friends, and the people of Valley who always inspired him to do good and excel in his field.
