New Delhi:A woman and her teenage son were allegedly murdered by their domestic help at their home in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar on Wednesday evening. The accused reportedly slit their throats in a fit of rage after being scolded by the woman, Ruchika Sewani, before fleeing the scene.

Around 9:30 pm, Ruchika’s husband, Kuldeep Sewani, returned home to find the door locked and calls to his wife and 14-year-old son, Krish, going unanswered. He also noticed blood stains near the entrance and staircase, prompting him to alert the Police Control Room (PCR).

Police arrived and forced entry into the house, where they discovered a horrific scene. Ruchika, 42, was found lying on the floor near the bed with severe neck injuries and blood-soaked clothes. Krish, a Class 10 student, was found lifeless in the bathroom, also surrounded by blood.

Ruchika and her husband jointly ran a garment shop in the Lajpat Nagar market.

The accused, Mukesh, 24, who worked as a driver and helped the couple at their shop, has been arrested while attempting to flee. He is said to have confessed to the double murder, telling police he acted after being reprimanded by Ruchika.

Mukesh hails from Bihar and lived in Delhi’s Amar Colony, not far from the Sewanis’ residence. The police are investigating the exact motive behind the killings.

The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, and forensic experts are assisting with evidence collection. CCTV footage from the area is also being reviewed to reconstruct the sequence of events.
