Srinagar, Dec 9: New Delhi-based Kashmiri techie Kashif Ahmad has been following an unhealthy lifestyle for years now. Given the health issues, he decided to shun sedentary lifestyles and change for good.
Come December, he returned home after smog gripped Delhi. Given his ample time, he decided to take up the ‘Winter Arc’ challenge to improve his physical and mental health.
The challenge, which promotes physical well-being and mental resilience, involves a series of carefully designed workouts, dietary plans, and motivational activities. Participants are encouraged to document their journey, sharing their progress and inspiring others to embark on a similar path.
“It is not just me but all the friends, who returned home, have decided to change our lives. We eat healthy food, go to the gym, and do meditations to transform our physical wellbeing and mental health,” he said.
Kashif is documenting each and every progress he makes in the journey of transforming himself into a healthy being. “It is sub-zero temperature here and honestly I am not bothered with it. I go for a walk and then go to the gym and repeat meditation sessions daily,” he said.
The initiative has gained traction on social media, with hashtags like #WinterArcKashmir and #HealthyKashmir trending among local influencers and fitness enthusiasts.
Participants are sharing their progress, showcasing their commitment to staying active even in the harsh winter months.
For many, the Winter Arc Challenge is more than just a fitness trend. It represents a new wave of awareness about the importance of health and well-being in the Valley. “Fitness has become my escape and empowerment. This challenge has taught me that transformation starts with a single step, and the journey is worth it,” said Aadil Ahmad, a fitness enthusiast.
Local gyms and fitness centers across Kashmir have reported a surge in memberships as young individuals eagerly join the movement. “Normally, memberships decline during winters here in Kashmir as the temperature tends to be very low This year, we have seen a good number of youth joining gyms and health clubs. This challenge is a game-changer for Kashmiri youth. It not only helps us combat the winter lethargy but also instills discipline and positivity in our lives,” said Farhaan Muneer, a fitness trainer.
