New Delhi, May 21: A multi-party delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha embarked on a crucial diplomatic mission to Japan on Wednesday, aiming to highlight India’s concerns over cross-border terrorism sponsored by Pakistan and recent developments around Operation Sindoor.
The delegation includes a wide political spectrum: BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi, Brijlal, Pradhan Barua and Hemang Joshi; Congress leader and former external affairs minister Salman Khurshid; TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee; CPI(M)’s John Brittas; and former ambassador Mohan Kumar.
In addition to Japan, the team will visit South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore as part of India’s growing diplomatic outreach. The visit gains significance in the wake of a ceasefire understanding reached between India and Pakistan on May 10, following four days of heightened military tensions triggered by the Pahalgam terror attack.
Sanjay Jha underlined the delegation’s core objective: “The biggest issue is that this terrorism is Pakistan’s state policy. Our job is to reveal the face of Pakistan to the world. Terrorism in Pakistan thrives with full state support.”
Echoing the sentiment, CPI(M) MP John Brittas emphasized global unity against terror. “This is a public diplomatic outreach to convey India’s message that the world must unite against terrorism. It’s high time countries rally behind India’s concerns,” said the Rajya Sabha MP before departing for Japan.
The move is part of India’s larger campaign to build a global consensus on combating terrorism and to highlight Pakistan’s continued support for cross-border terror, especially in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on X, “Zero tolerance against terrorism! The first group of All Party Delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha has departed for a 5-nation visit as part of India’s diplomatic outreach on #OperationSindoor.”
This is the first of several such visits. A total of 59 representatives, including MPs from the ruling NDA, opposition parties, and former diplomats, have been grouped into seven teams to spread India’s message across different regions.
Operation Sindoor, launched earlier this month, targeted terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied territory and is being seen as India’s most significant military response since the 2019 Balakot airstrikes.
In the coming days, more delegations will travel to Europe, North America, West Asia, and Africa. On Thursday, another team led by DMK MP Kanimozhi is scheduled to visit Russia, Spain, Slovenia, Latvia, and Greece. The delegations will meet with senior officials, lawmakers, and global policy think tanks to underscore India’s position on terrorism and its call for international action.
