WHO awards certificate of appreciation to GMC Srinagar

Srinagar: Amid COVID-19 gloom, Kashmir has got a reason to cheer up as the Government Medical College, Srinagar has won a certificate of appreciation by World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday.  

The certificate was awarded after the hospital earned a grant from WHO for conducting World Hearing Day on March 3.

Accepting the honour, Nodal Officer Government Medical College Srinagar and Organizing Chairman of World Hearing day, Dr Salim Khan said it was a recognition of the outstanding commitment, team-work and dedication of all the staff members who were behind the initiative. 

“All the participants and organizers worked religiously to create an awareness on World hearing day among the masses,” Dr Khan said.

Community Health Expert GMC, Srinagar and organizing secretary of World Hearing Day, Dr Sheikh Mohammad Salim said their efforts were aimed to highlight the timely and effective interventions for those with hearing loss.

“This was done to ensure that appropriate and timely interventions can facilitate access to education, employment and communication,” Dr Salim said.
