August 12, 2018

Rafiabad, Aug 11: The residents of Watergam, Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are up in arms against authorities for failing to make the tehsil office functional. According to locals, the concerned tehsildar was transferred three months ago and the authorities have failed to send his replacement. The people of villages including Watergam, Behrampora, Marazigund, Aaachabal, Lohrihom, Ganipora etc that fall under the catchment area of tehsil Watergam are facing severe inconvenience in absence of the executive magistrate first class who is required to attest essential documents like state subject, land notations and other revenue deeds. “We have been suffering for long in absence of executive magistrate here. For some simple application, we have to travel from far off places to tehsil office every day and in absence of tehsildar concerned we return to our homes with deep disappointment,” the protestors told GNS. A visitor from Behrampora Abdul Hameed said, “I have been coming here daily for the last one month to complete formalities for my children’s state subject, but my efforts are proving fruitless as there is no tehsildar to look into the cases.” Despite repeated attempts, the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Ahmed Naqash could not be reached for comments.
