Water scarcity hits Rafiabad villages

Rafiabad, Jab 5: Residents of Heb Dangerpora village in north Kashmir’s Rafiabad are without water for more than two months.
The small village even after numerous complaints and pleadings still struggle to get drinking water in this chilling winter.
“We have made numerous complaints to PHE officials through our elders for access to water. However all our cries have landed on deaf ears,” said group of inhabitants of Heb Dangerpora.
The problems we face are tremendous, especially in this chilling winter said a woman, she said that we have to walk miles for a bucket of water and sometimes that too is hard to get.
Similarly, other villages in Rafiabad belt are claiming to have faced water scarcity problem, those villages including Marazigund, Watergam, Druss, Dangiwacha, Rouse are suffering for want of potable water for 2 months.
Meanwhile officials in Public Health Engineering Rafiabad division told The Kashmir Monitor that no doubt people are facing water crisis in Watergam belt, he said that due to freeing of water, people are facing problems.
“ Our division have started water tanker supply in those affected areas so that people will get relief till the time regular supply will be restored,” he said.
