Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has taken over the direct management of Seer Hamadaan Ziyarat Assar-i-Shareef, Jamia Masjid and all allied Waqf properties in Anantnag with immediate effect following repeated representations from local residents.
Acting on the directions of Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, the Board issued Order No. 100 of 2026, appointing an Administrator to assume charge and prepare a complete inventory of all properties, assets, records and accounts.
To facilitate the transition, all financial transactions have been frozen, with withdrawals from Waqf bank accounts prohibited without Board authorization. A comprehensive audit and verification of financial records and assets has also been ordered.
The Board further directed that no individual or committee, except officers authorized by the J&K Waqf Board, shall manage the institution or collect donations on its behalf.
According to the Board, the move is aimed at ensuring transparent administration, safeguarding Waqf assets and strengthening accountability in the management of Waqf institutions across Jammu and Kashmir.
