Srinagar, Aug 27: Jammu and Kashmir’s longtime governor N N Vohra flew home Monday morning. He was seen off by three advisers of the new governor K Vijay Kumar, B B Vyas and Khursheed A Ganai at the airport along with the district officers of the Budgam district, where the airport is located. Vohra drove to the airport from Raj Bhawan where he was putting up in an annexe for last few days to oversee his belongings being shifted. At the airport, at around 9:30 am, he took off in the state plane. On Sunday, he had issued a brief statement thanking the people of Kashmir. “Because of the constraint of time he could not bid adieu in a befitting manner to the very large number of people he had got to know in the past over ten years, from all walks of life,” Vohra’s spokesman said. “Vohra conveyed his good wishes to the people of J&K and prayed for communal harmony, peace, and prosperity which would take the State forward on all fronts.” Satya Pal Malik who succeeded Vohra is flying to Srinagar from Patna in the afternoon. The outgoing governor and the new incumbent of the Raj Bhawan had such an interesting schedule that they did not meet even for a minute. This is being seen as a rare instance of change of a power in one of the most sensitive states.
