Viral video: Bear trapped, punched and dragged on snow in Kashmir

Srinagar:  A video of a black Himalayan bear being caught and dragged on snow by people in Kashmir has gone viral on social media even as the Wildlife department has alerted its officials to trace the animal.

In the two-minute-long video, scores of the people are seen dragging the bear on snow after they have somehow managed to trap it in a net.

While the animal is seen struggling to free himself, people are seen shouting, punching, and dragging the bear.

The video has gone viral on social media with netizens describing it a case of “animal abuse”.

Meanwhile, the officials from the Wildlife Department said they have no clue about the incident and have alerted their employees to trace the bear.

“We don’t have information about it so far and we are ascertaining the authenticity of the video. We have shared the video of our official social media handles to get information about the trapped bear,” Regional Wildlife Warden Kashmir, Rashid Y Naqash told The Kashmir Monitor.
