Union Secy reviews GoI schemes in JK

Jammu, Dec 26: Union Secretary for Rural Development Department, Amarjeet Sinha, Wednesday, convened a meeting here to take stock of various developmental schemes being executed under the rural development sector in the state.

The Union Secretary took a comprehensive review of the progress on various schemes initiated by the state in rural development sector including PradhanMantriAwasYojana (PMAY), MGNREGA, Aadhaar seeding, job card and other schemes.

Other issues discussed in the meeting include percentage of works completed, new targets, financial performance under MGNREGA, financial progress report under 14th FC.

Secretary RDD Sheetal Nanda apprised the Union Secretary in detail about the financial and physical achievements made under various schemes by the department.

The Union Secretary was also briefed about the physical and financial achievements registered by the department during the current fiscal so far.

Sinha assured that central government will provide all possible financial assistance to the state government to uplift rural infrastructure. He also appreciated the Governor administration for conducting Panchayat elections smoothly.

He impressed upon the officers to optimally achieve the set targets during the current financial year and also stressed on close monitoring of ongoing works to ensure quality and adherence to timelines.

He directed the officers to work with added dedication for making the blocks under their jurisdiction ‘open defecation free’ and also set timeline for achieving the targets.

The meeting was attended by Union Joint Secretary for Rural Development, Charanjeet Singh, Commissioner Secretary R&B, Khurshid Ahmad Shah, Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sheetal Nanda, Director General, Rural Development Jammu,RehanaBatul, Director Rural Development Kashmir,QaziSarwar, Director Planning, RDD, Director Finance RDD, ACDs of various districts, besides other concerned.
