Union Minister hails powerlifting champion’s global feat

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 23: Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports,  Raksha Nikhil Khadse met Jammu and Kashmir based powerlifting champion Fardeem Hussain, lauding him for achieving the rare and remarkable feat.

During an interaction here, Khadse described Hussain’s achievement as an inspiration not only for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir but for the entire nation. Hussain, a 21-year old athlete from Srinagar in 2024 clinched a gold medal at prestigious IBFF Powerlifting World Championship in Bangkok. Prior to that, he also bagged the Jammu and Kashmir Powerlifting State Powerlifting Championship 2024.

 Hussain who held a detailed interaction with the minister appraised her of the talent and potential among the Kashmir youth to compete at bigger stages. He urged  Khadse for a better platform and sports infrastructure for the UT based athletes.

The Minister further emphasized the government’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent across the country, particularly in regions like Jammu and Kashmir. Khadse told Hussain to work hard to bring more medals for the country in future.
