Srinagar, July 6: Condemning the shifting of women separatist leaders including Asiya Andrabi to Delhi, United Jihad Council (UJC) on Friday accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of “playing National Investigation Agency (NIA) card” for the forthcoming elections. In a statement, UJC spokesman Syed Sadaqat Hussain quoted the amalgam chief, Syed Salah-ud-din saying that “the tactics being used by the BJP to suppress the genuine voice here have been applied in the past as well but these measures would only strengthen the freedom movement.” He said that “BJP is playing NIA card in the elections which may help them for time being but would prove dangerous for the peace of the region.” The UJC chief further appealed international organizations, world Human rights organizations and Indian Civil Societies to take notice over the human rights violations inside the jail premises with the Hurriyat workers and activists especially in Tihar jail. He said that “putting ailing Asiya Andrabi along with her aids in such jails is tantamount to putting their lives at risk. It is fact that Asiya’s health condition is already deteriorating and now putting her in such jails would further deteriorate her health.” UJC chief said that “Indian leadership should understand that fact that suppressive measures didn’t succeed. It is better for India to accept the ground reality and fulfill the promises done with the people.”
