Two Hizb militants killed, civilian injured in Tral gunfight

Srinagar, Mar 5: Two militants were killed and a civilian injured in a gunfight between the militants and the government forces in Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday, reports said.

Quoting official sources, news agency GNS reported that two militants were killed in Mir Mohalla after forces blasted the house and razed it to the ground today morning.

A police official confirmed the killing of two militants. “We recovered two bodies of militants along with two AK-47 rifles,” said the official.

A police spokesman, in a statement, identified the slain as Adfar Fayaz Parray son of Fayaz Ahmad Parray resident of Gulshanpora Tral and Irfan Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Hassan Rather resident of Shariefabad Tral.

The duo, as per the spokesperson, was affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit

A civilian, identified as Farooq Ahmad Malik (45) was injured during the gunfight. He was rushed to SMHS hospital in Srinagar.

The gunfight, according to reports, began Tuesday morning after fresh contact was established with the militants who had exchanged fire Monday night too.

An officer said the operation was suspended last night due to darkness but was resumed at the crack of dawn today.
