Two foreign militants killed in Handwara

Srinagar, May 31: Two Pakistani militants were killed in an overnight gunfight at Kralgund area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
A senior army officer said that the militants opened fire upon patrolling party of army’s 32 RR late last night in the forest area of Qaziabad in Kralgund.
The fire was retaliated which resulted in an encounter, he said.
The exchange of gunfire continued for some time and the operation was later suspended due to darkness, the officer said.
He said that today morning bodies of two unidentified militants were recovered along with as many AK 47 rifles and other warlike stores during the search operation in the area.
The identities and the group affiliation of the slain are being ascertained, the officer said, adding it seems that the duo killed in the operation are foreigners.
Meanwhile, the two militants were buried at Reshiwari which is close to the forests in Wader area of Rajwar by members of local Auqaf committee today late in the afternoon. The bodies were handed over to the locals by police after completing medico-legal formalities.
