Srinagar, Apr 21: The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to close the Tulip Garden in Srinagar for the public from April 24.
An official said that as the Tulip bloom is almost over, the garden will be closed from April 24, 2025.
Located at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range, overlooking the picturesque Dal Lake, the garden was opened for tourists on March 26 this year.
Since then, it has witnessed a huge influx of visitors from across the country who came to admire Asia’s largest tulip display.
An official said with the end of the Tulip season, the authorities have decided to close the garden for general public from 24 April.
“With the bloom season now over, the garden will be officially closed for public entry from April 24,” an official said.
Such was the rush that in the first 20 days, over 6,71 lakh visitors visited the garden. This remarkable number marks the highest-ever footfall in the garden’s history, firmly establishing it as one of India’s most sought-after spring attractions.
The garden is currently home to a breathtaking 1.7 million tulips in full bloom, transforming the landscape into a vibrant mosaic of red, yellow, pink, purple, and white.
In 2022 and 2023, the garden saw 3.65 lakh visitors, and in 2024, the number rose to 4.45 lakh. However, this year’s figure has already soared past 6.71 lakh, and with several days of the season remaining, the final tally is expected to climb even higher.
The record visitor turnout has brought economic cheer to the local community.
