Srinagar, Mar 25: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said Modi government has tossed separatism out of Jammu and Kashmir.

Taking to X, Shah welcomed the decision of the two organizations to sever ties with Hurriyat.

“Separatism has become history in Kashmir. The unifying policies of the Modi government have tossed separatism out of J&K. Two organizations associated with the Hurriyat have announced the severing of all ties with separatism. I welcome this step towards strengthening Bharat’s unity and urge all such groups to come forward and shed separatism once and for all,” he said.

“It is a big victory for PM Shri  @narendramodi Ji’s vision of building a developed, peaceful, and unified Bharat,” he added.

Shah’s statement comes a day after Democratic Political Movement (DPM) leader Mohammad Shafi Reshi announced his complete disassociation from his party and Geelani-led Hurriyat Conference.

In a statement, Reshi clarified that he severed ties with the DPM in 2017 during his tenure as Chairman and has had no connection with the organization or any separatist group since then. He criticized the ideology of the APHC, stating that it has failed to address the legitimate aspirations and grievances of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reshi emphasized his full commitment to his legal profession and warned against the unauthorized use of his name in connection with separatist activities. He stated that any such misuse would invite legal action.

Reaffirming his allegiance to India, Reshi declared himself a bona fide citizen committed to upholding the supremacy of the Indian Constitution.

It may be recalled here that last month, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said dismantling the entire terror ecosystem is the top priority of the Modi government.

“Monitoring terror-financing, tightening grip over Narco-terror cases, and dismantling the entire terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir are priorities of the Modi government. Strong steps are being taken for the ‘Zero Terror Plan’ in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Shah was chairing high-level meetings in New Delhi to review security scenarios in Jammu and Kashmir. These meetings were in continuation of earlier sessions held with the Indian Army and J&K Police on 4th and 5th February 2025. Union Home Secretary, Director (IB), Director Generals of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF), and other senior officers attended the meetings.

Home Minister also reviewed the intelligence apparatus working in Jammu and Kashmir and directed them to increase coverage and penetration to generate quality intelligence. He reiterated the importance of technology in intelligence generation.

Union Home Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister   Narendra Modi, the Central government is committed to ‘terror-free Jammu & Kashmir.’ He emphasized the role of the paramilitary in achieving the target of terror-free J&K. The Home Minister directed the BSF to ensure zero infiltration from the international borders by adopting strong vigil, strengthening the border grid, and using advanced technologies for surveillance and border guarding.
