SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 10: In order to boost sustained tourist flow to gardens and parks, Director Floriculture Kashmir, Shakeel Ahmad Rather while visiting various gardens and parks today directed the officers to plantation of ttheme-based fundamental flora.
While planting lavender plants in Badamwari, Director Floriculture remarked that the department is setting up a lavender section in the garden so that after the Almond bloom is over visitors can enjoy the hues and fragrance of lavender. This will increase tourist footfall in the garden.
He also directed officers there to establish sections of different plants that will have varied bloom periods across different seasons. He further apprised that the setting up of a large lavender section will be replicated in Botanical Garden Srinagar also.
Director Floriculture added that the theme-based sections in the gardens will ensure sustained tourist flow to the gardens and parks and will enable the visitors to have a good and varied experience of the ornamental flora of Kashmir.
