SRINAGAR: Hindustan Times has appointed Tariq Malik, an industry veteran, to lead the business operations for their OTT platform, OTTPlay.
Tariq Malik Appointed as Head Business for HT’s OTTplay
Tariq is making the move from his previous role as Vice President at DEN Cable. HT Media has recently introduced OTTplay Premium, a service that consolidates various over-the-top (OTT) platforms into one, offering a unified billing system.
Tariq, holding an MBA in Marketing and an advanced degree in General Management from the renowned IIM Ahmedabad, is expected to complete his notice period at DEN Cable and commence his role at OTTplay in the first week of December 2023. In his previous role, he oversaw the overall business success of the OTT, Broadband, and Value-Added Service Business Unit at the company. His responsibilities included managing Business Development, Sales, Profit and Loss, and team leadership.
HT Media’s OTT Play Premium has content partnerships with 12 OTT platforms, including Sony LIV, ZEE5, Lionsgate Play, ShemarooMe, Sun NXT, FUSE+, Tastemade+, Curiosity Stream, Hallmark Movies Now, DUST, DocuBay, and ShortsTV.
Avinash Mudaliar, CEO and Co-Founder of HT Labs, stated earlier that their goal is to attract up to 5 million subscribers by 2023. OTT Play, initially established as a personalised content recommendation engine for movies and shows from over 55 OTT platforms, has garnered over 5 million unique visitors.
