Lucknow:A large number of protesters have collected at the site of the vandalised statue of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar at Trivenipuram in the Jhunsi area of Allahabad.
Speaking to this reporter, Allahabad SSP Akash Kulhary described the situation as under control.
He said the protesters were demanding the lodging of an FIR against the culprits which had already been done at the Jhunsi police station against unidentified persons.
The police are searching for the culprits who reportedly vandalised the statue on Friday night.
Condemning the incident in a tweet, Samajwadi party state president Naresh Uttam said, “The feudal forces in the state under the BJP rule are constantly attacking the statues of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. The BJP government is continuously humiliating the Father of the Indian Constitution. The Prime Minister, the President and even the UP Governor are silent on the issue.”
A similar incident took place in Meerut on March 7.
