Srinagar: Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Srinagar, Ajaz Ahmad, along with Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Srinagar, Mehboob Ahmad, today conducted an extensive visit to the Downtown area, popularly known as Shahre Khas, to assess traffic conditions and hear grievances of local stakeholders.
During the visit, members of the Shahre Khas Traders Alliance, a representative body of local traders, met the officers and highlighted a range of issues affecting business and traffic management in the area. The delegation was led by its President, Nazir Ahmad Shah, and included members Aasim Rangrez, Hashim Gupkari, Umer Ghani, and Feroz Ahmad, among others.
The traders accompanied the officers through several key lanes, chowks, and streets of the historic Downtown, drawing attention to persistent challenges. Particular focus was laid on Bohri Kadal Chowk, where traders pointed out major congestion and traffic-related concerns impacting daily commercial activities.
The delegation elaborated on the difficulties faced by traders, including traffic mismanagement, congestion, and accessibility issues. The officers listened attentively and held on-the-spot discussions to better understand the situation.
Assuring prompt attention, the traffic officials stated that all concerns have been noted and will be reviewed thoroughly. They emphasized that appropriate measures and solutions will be worked out to address the issues and improve traffic regulation in the area.
The visit was seen as a positive step towards strengthening coordination between the traffic department and the trading community of Shahre Khas.
