Srinagar, May 22: Srinagar experienced an intense heatwave on Thursday, recording a scorching 34.4°C, marking the third highest-ever temperature for May in the past 133 years.
Independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif Keng confirmed the development, stating that the city logged its highest day temperature of the season so far. He noted that the previous record for May stood at 34.3°C, set on May 28, 1971.
The Kashmir Valley is currently reeling under a severe heatwave, prompting health and disaster management authorities to issue public advisories. Both the administration and medical experts have urged people to take adequate precautions, especially avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours.
