SPO with AK-47 rifle goes missing; joins Hizb

Pampore, June 27: A Special Police Officer (SPO) posted at police station Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is missing since last evening, reportedly with an AK-47 rifle.
A police source said that the SPO Irfan Ahmad Dar left the police station Pampore where he was posted after he suffered some illness.
The missing SPO, as per the source, is a resident of Kakapora Pulwama.
He said the police has launched a manhunt to track down the missing cop.
SP Awantipora Muhammad Zahid Malik confirmed that the SPO is missing since last evening.
“We have contacted his family and we are yet confirming if he has fled with his rifle or not,” said Malik.
In a tele-statement issued, the Operational Spokesman of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Burhan-u-Din said “SPO Irfan Ahmad Dar a resident of Nehama Kakapora of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district who fled with the rifle has joined Hizb-ul-Mujahideen.”
Spokesman also quoted Field Operational Commander Mohammad Bin Qasim as saying “we appeal all Jammu and Kashmir police cadres to give up their job and join Hizb-ul-Mujahideen to give a push to the resistance struggle.”
Meanwhile, a joint team of army and SOG visited the spot and launched a massive manhunt to trace out the missing cop.
