Srinagar: Police have arrested a man for allegedly murdering his sister-in-law in Noorbagh area of Srinagar.
Police said accused Umer Farooq of Pamposh Colony, Srinagar was arrested for murdering his sister-in-law (brother’s wife). The weapon of offence was also recovered.
Police said that a case was registered at Safa Kadal Police Station under relevant sections of law.
“One accused namely Umer Farooq S/o Farooq Ahmed R/o Pamposh Colony, Srinagar arrested for murdering his Sister-in-law( elder Bhabi). The weapon of offence was also recovered on his disclosure in front of the magistrate. Case registered in Safa Kadal PS under relevant sections of murder,” police tweeted.
Official figures reveal that the crimes against women increased by 11 percent in Jammu and Kashmir. Figures reveal that 3069 cases of crimes against women were recorded in 2019 and the number rose to 3414 in 2020.
