The State Bank of India (SBI) has announced recruitment for 2,964 Circle Based Officer (CBO) posts for the 2025-26 cycle. This includes 2,600 regular vacancies and 364 backlog positions across various circles in India. Interested candidates can apply online at the official SBI website, sbi.co.in, until May 29, 2025.
To be eligible, candidates must possess a degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification acknowledged by the Central Government. Professional qualifications like Engineering, Medicine, Chartered Accountancy, or Cost Accountancy are also acceptable.
Applicants should have at least two years of work experience as an officer in a Scheduled Commercial Bank or a Regional Rural Bank as of April 30, 2025. They must also provide a certified job profile from their employer. If the work profile does not match that of a Generalist Officer (Scale I) in SBI, the application may be rejected.
The age limit is between 21 and 30 years as of April 30, 2025. Candidates must have been born between May 1, 1995 and April 30, 2004. Age relaxation is applicable for certain categories: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL), 10 years for PwBD, and 5 years for Ex-Servicemen.
Language proficiency in the local language of the selected circle is mandatory. Candidates should be able to read, write, and speak the language, and must provide proof preferably through Class 10 or 12 mark sheets.
The selection process includes an online test, interview, and a local language proficiency test. The online test comprises an objective section (2 hours, 120 marks) and a descriptive section (30 minutes, 50 marks, including one essay and one letter). The interview carries 50 marks and minimum qualifying marks are required to proceed. The final merit list will be based on interview scores, category, and state preference.
The application fee is Rs 750 for General, OBC, and EWS categories. SC, ST, and PwBD candidates are exempt from the fee. Payment must be made online through debit/credit card, internet banking, or UPI.
Selected candidates will be appointed in the Junior Management Grade Scale-I with a starting basic pay of Rs 48,480. The overall pay scale ranges from Rs 48,480 to Rs 85,920, with additional allowances such as DA, HRA/Lease Rental, and CCA. Candidates with more than two years of experience will be given one extra increment.
To apply, candidates must visit the SBI website, go to the Careers section, select ‘Recruitment of Circle Based Officers 2025’, and complete the application form. Required documents such as a photograph, signature, thumb impression, and declaration must be uploaded. After fee payment, applicants should download the confirmation page.
Applicants can apply for only one circle and must be ready to serve in that region if selected. Current SBI employees working as clerks, supervisors, or on a contract basis are not eligible. Candidates must also ensure they have no pending dues with banks or NBFCs before joining.
