Srinagar, Feb 21: Real Kashmir FC’s Mohammad Inam has been invited by the All India Football Federation for Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-16 trails.
He has figured among the top 20 footballers of his age, who have to undergo selection trials at SAI Netaji Subhash Eastern Centre Kolkata from March 1, to 7.
The AFC U-16 is scheduled to be held in Malaysia this year.
An official said that many top players in the country have been selected for the trials on the basis of their overall performances in previous tournaments.
Inam, a 15-year-old footballer from Rainawari has been associated with Real Kashmir FC for the last two years.
He was spotted by Real Kashmir Youth Academy head Ajaz Ahmad, who got him in.
Inam eventually was spotted by AIFF scouts during the Nike Youth league in Goa this month where RKFC defeated Kerala Blasters and DSK Shivajians FC.
“It’s a big day for us when one of our boys has been called for India camp. We hope this is just the beginning and pray that Inam makes it to the final team so that others from our club can be inspired by him”, a club official of RKFC said.
“He is a mature player and has been performing well in the recent tournaments. He can prove a roadmap for aspiring young footballers,” he said.
Inam credited this achievement to his coaches and club in particular.
“This is really big news for me and I will prove myself in the trials. I will use this opportunity to achieve bigger goals,” he said.
