RBI to withdraw Rs 2,000 currency notes from circulation, tender valid till Sep 30

The RBI (Reserve Bank of India) has decided to withdraw Rs 2,000 rupees notes.

RBI has also asked banks to provide deposit and/or exchange facility for Rs 2,000 notes until September 30, 2023.

Reserve Bank of India explained the rationale behind the move being “banknotes in other denominations are available in adequate quantities”.
