Srinagar, May 30: The Meteorological Department has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall and gusty winds across Jammu and Kashmir over the next eight days, from May 30 to June 6.

According to the MeT office, moderate to intense showers with thunderstorms and strong winds are expected at several places on May 30 and 31, while most regions will remain under cloudy skies with occasional light to moderate rain.

On June 1 and 2, a brief spell of light rain with thunderstorms may occur at isolated spots.

From June 4 to 6, the region is likely to see mostly dry weather, with the possibility of brief afternoon showers and thunderstorms at isolated locations.

The department has issued an advisory warning of possible flash floods in vulnerable areas due to intense showers, along with risks of landslides and mudslides in hilly regions.

“People are advised to avoid vulnerable spots and stay away from electric poles, loose structures, old trees, and cables during storms,” a MeT official cautioned.
