Rain and Snow Likely in Valley from March 1-2: MeT

Srinagar, March 1: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather advisory forecasting rain and snowfall across Jammu and Kashmir from March 1 to 12.

According to the forecast:

  • March 1-2: Generally cloudy skies with light rain/snow expected at isolated locations, particularly during the late night of March 2.
  • March 3: Light to moderate rain/snow likely in most areas, with moderate to heavy snowfall possible in some higher reaches of North and Central Kashmir.
  • March 4-9: Dry weather anticipated.
  • March 10-12: A fresh spell of rain and snow is expected.

Advisory for Public and Travelers:

  • Tourists, travelers, and transporters should adhere to official administrative and traffic advisories.
  • Farmers are advised to suspend irrigation and other agricultural activities until March 4.
  • Landslides, rockfalls, and shooting stones may occur in vulnerable areas.
  • Residents should avoid steep slopes and avalanche-prone zones and follow alerts issued by the Directorate General of Relief and Emergency.
