New Delhi, June 17: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced a major recruitment drive for 6,180 Technician posts across various zones of Indian Railways for the 2025–26 cycle. According to a short notification published in the Employment News dated June 16, the detailed advertisement (CEN 02/2025) will be released by June 27, and the online registration process is scheduled to begin on June 28. The application window will remain open until July 28, 11:59 PM.
Out of the total vacancies, 180 posts are for Technician Grade 1 Signal and the remaining 6,000 are for Technician Grade 3. The selection process for both categories will consist of a Computer-Based Test (CBT), followed by document verification and a medical fitness test. This recruitment campaign presents a significant opportunity for individuals seeking technical positions in Indian Railways, particularly for those who missed similar openings in previous cycles.
Candidates applying for the Technician Grade 1 Signal post must hold a BSc degree in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, IT, or Instrumentation, or a diploma/degree in Engineering in relevant disciplines. Those applying for the Technician Grade 3 post must have passed Class 10 (SSLC/Matriculation) and completed an ITI or Apprenticeship in specific trades such as Foundryman, Moulder, Pattern Maker, or Forger and Heat Treater.
As per the age criteria, applicants for the Grade 1 Signal post should be between 18 and 33 years old, while those applying for Grade 3 should fall between the age bracket of 18 to 30 years. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates from reserved categories in accordance with government rules.
The application fee for SC/ST, Ex-servicemen, Persons with Disabilities (PwD), Women, Transgender candidates, minorities, and economically backward classes is ₹250, which will be fully refunded upon appearing in the CBT. Other categories are required to pay ₹500, of which ₹400 will be refunded after they appear for the CBT.
In terms of remuneration, candidates selected for the Technician Grade 1 Signal post will receive an initial pay of ₹29,200 per month under Pay Level 5, while those recruited for Technician Grade 3 will be paid ₹19,900 per month under Pay Level 2. These posts are entitled to additional allowances as per the 7th Central Pay Commission.
The online application link will go live on the official RRB website, rrbcdg.gov.in, from June 28. The detailed notification will provide information on zone-wise vacancies, syllabus for the CBT, and step-by-step guidelines for submitting the application.
